Portugal's best-known surf town, with a World Surf League stop at Supertubos
Peniche has beaches facing several directions, so when one side is too big or blown out another often works. Supertubos, south of town, is a powerful, hollow beach break and hosts the World Surf League Championship Tour's MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal; the 2026 event is scheduled for 16 to 25 October. Baleal, a few kilometres north, has gentler beach breaks and is where many surf guesthouses are based.
