Where to stay in Lagos

Stay in or next to the old town. Lagos is small, so from there you can walk to the bars, the bus and train stations and the town beaches. Pick the Ponta da Piedade side if you would rather be near the coves and away from the late-night noise.

Old town Best for nightlife, walking everywhere · 5 of our hostels

The walled historic centre: cobbled lanes, most of Lagos's bars and restaurants, and a short walk to the marina, the bus station and Praia da Batata. Where you want to be if you plan to go out.

In or near Old town: Olive Hostel Lagos, Orange3 Hostel, Top City Hostel & Suites, Cloud 9 Hostel, Rising Cock Party Hostel

Ponta da Piedade side Best for beaches, quieter nights

The streets heading south toward the Ponta da Piedade headland and the cove beaches below the cliffs, such as Dona Ana and Camilo. Quieter and residential, a walk from the old town.

Meia Praia Best for long beach days

The long sandy beach east of town, across the river and marina from the old town. Plenty of space and water sports; much less going on at night.

Arriving in Lagos

Faro is the nearest airport. From Faro, regional trains run along the Algarve line to Lagos, the western end of the line; Lagos station sits by the marina, across the river from the old town. Buses also link Faro and Lagos.

Lagos hostels: your questions

Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we'll fix it.

Is Lagos a good place to stay?

Yes, if you want beaches, boat trips and a lively bar scene in a town small enough to walk everywhere. Ponta da Piedade, the cove beaches and the old town are all within reach on foot, and boat and kayak trips leave from the marina. It is less suited to a city break: there are few big sights, and it is far busier in summer than in winter.

Dorm beds in the 5 hostels we checked in Lagos start at €20 a night, and the middle of the range is about €27. These are the lowest advertised dorm prices, checked 6 Oct 2026; the price for your dates can be different, and private rooms cost more.
