Our verdict
Porto Spot is a social hostel that doesn't hide it. Breakfast is free, dinner is served on the patio every day, the staff organise pub crawls and, on selected days, walking tours, and the hostel's own site says it likes to party and to make barbecues. It's in a 1935 building designed by Portuguese architect Armenio Losa, refurbished with key-card rooms and free security lockers. According to Hostelworld it's about five minutes' walk from Capela das Almas and around 15 minutes from Porto Cathedral. Hostelworld rated it 9.1/10 when we checked, and dorms started at €15 a night before Porto's €3 city tax.
